Mad as a March hare – no I’m not describing my Mother (Happy Mothers Day to all great Mums) but coining a well known phrase that’s used quite a lot in our place of work – and not just this month either! It could also describe the weather – only 2 weeks ago we were knee deep in snow and now the sun’s shining and it looks like Spring is arriving. Bummer – we were hoping for more snow and rain to bring in the accidents and roof repairs!

Before I move on, could I ask the people who actually replied to my suggestion last month for decals for Valentines Day to send me a picture of said “Valentines”? Of course, total discretion is assured!! Old romantics!

Down to business - Grahams and Paintshop have orders well in advance for new build trailers and vehicle bodies in the shape of curtainsiders, box bodies and flatbeds due to the quality of the workmanship they are providing at a value for money price. The boys are always keen for more overtime, so keep the enquiries coming.

Trailershop are also feeding a lot of work through to the paintshop after refurbishing many of your trailers. The lifespan of these trailers (normally) well outlasts the initial paintwork and so, after repairs and shotblasting, you can have a paint finish almost as good as new. Add to that some new design or fresh decals and your old knackered trailers and vehicles can be given a new lease of life and provide a far better advert for your Company – for a small fee!

We are probably not alone in experiencing large volumes of absenteeism in the last 2 weeks with a flu epidemic sweeping our workshops. I’d like to take the chance to thank all the staff who made sure we kept turning out your vehicles and trailers as quickly as was humanly possible in spite of feeling some of the symptoms themselves. If you have experienced any form of delay, please accept our apologies. Most are back now and in full health. Question: Is a flu jab an acceptable and allowable business expense? If anyone knows a Company who provides this service, let me know (sickness will not be tolerated!!!).

I think the last point to note is our Employee of the Month which at the end of February we presented to Matt Morrow of Graffix Detail. Matt is always helpful, pleasant and efficient but this month he was dragged from his cosy bed in the early hours to start work on a particular contract and accepted the request with good humour and we are grateful that he did. Matt is good looking and single although the photos on www.colinhutton.com and www.graffixdetail.com don’t do him justice! I will happily forward on any invites for Matt sent to me at the address below.

Just a small plug too for www.thehowwoodinn.com – Easter weekend is also our 6th birthday and we always celebrate it with a live band and a big party. Details will be posted on the website if you feel like a night away from the norm.

Have a good month.

Regards

Corinne
