January 2005 |
Happy New Year and all the very best for 2005. I hope everyone
enjoyed some kind of break over the festive period whether your
choice was to party every day or for a peaceful rest. The best
part for me was to waken on Christmas morning to snow falling
and a light dusting on the ground. I always thank my lucky stars
on days like that and never more so than on Boxing Day when I
woke to the news of the Asian Tsunami Catastrophe.
I’m also very lucky to be part of a society
that want to help so much and we’ve collected many hundreds
of pounds in The Howwood Inn which we’ve already made sure
is on its way to the devastated areas. Mum is anxious to help
and has found many aid societies who advise on how we can help.
The most urgent requirements seem to be for water, summer clothing,
bedding & towels. She has been collecting like mad and would
be grateful for any donations you can make and we’ll even
get our mobile guys to uplift in Glasgow and the surrounding areas.
We are now trying to find the best way of getting it to those
in need and our Industry must have many willing contacts throughout
the world and I’d be very pleased to receive any advice
or assistance you can offer. When we think twice because of the
cost or effort to us, maybe we should all think how rich we all
are in real terms.
So, enough of the sermon, I know you are all keen
to know the result of our competition last month and the answer
to the question : What is the relevance of Olive in relation to
Santa and his reindeers? Answer: From Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
“Olive the other reindeer, used to laugh and call him names!”
Didn’t get it? Well Margaret from Cullen Packaging in Glasgow
did and she received her bottle of Whisky in time for Christmas.
Well, with all the fuss over with, January is the
time to get the heads down and battle through the workload. Michael
has cleared out all those urgent jobs for Christmas and could
slot in a few more paint jobs in the next 2 weeks before his next
contract starts. Gordon is always greedy enough to pack in some
more livery jobs but Trailershop and Grahams are at bursting point
although they are always on hand to help our favourite Customers
in need. Serviceshop have MOTs and Services lined up to keep them
out of trouble but would love some overtime as they have Christmas
bills to pay! Please call, whatever your requirements and we will
do our best to accommodate.
Just a quick note on our ‘Employee of the
Month’ – Stephen Black who is one of our ever willing
and most pleasant mechanics. Stephen never refuses or moans regardless
of what you ask of him and some of his jobs are by the roadside
in cold and wet weather at all times of day and night. For a photo
of our fabulously good looking star employee, check out www.colinhutton.com
. Thanks to Stephen for his hard work.
Remember to call me if you can help with our appeal.
