Welcome
to Spring when all the gardens start to liven up, April showers
come in sheets and the birds start returning from warmer climates
– only this time we don’t want them to! I was in Fife
last weekend and loved all the little fishing villages up the
East coast and I have to say if I had seen a dead swan or duck,
I would have stepped over it and left it to nature to deal with.
Thank goodness other people listen to these health scares though
and fingers crossed that it won’t come to anything more.
Good luck to any Customers who are in the bird business. We’ve
had quite a few of our lads down with bugs and flu throughout
March – I hope they’ve not been mingling with any
suspect birds!
Employee
of the Month for March took us into new territory when we chose
2 staff members to be awarded. Also, this is the first time we’ve
had repeat winners in Ronnie Eodonable and Fiona Haughian. As
a result of illness in their Department, Trailershop were without
their Foreman Willie Hastings and Manager Allan Hendrie for a
few days.
Thanks to Ronnie and Fiona for making sure the work flowed well
and the Customers were kept happy and thank you if you had to
be bit more patient than we would normally expect.
As a family we are not so patiently awaiting the arrival of the
first Hutton grandchild due on the 8th April to brother David
and his wife Kate. By next month’s newsletter it’ll
be Grandpa Colin and worse, Granny Doreen. I’m going to
be one of those Aunt’s that teaches the kid to stick its
tongue out and say dirty words like “trucker” and
“tank”. It might pull in some more Custom! Some of
you will remember mad hatter, David when he was involved in our
family business for 18 years until he moved into the property
development trade in 2003. He has managed to encourage some tradesmen
to get their vehicles serviced and repaired here though, so he
will probably still try to claim a wage!
Grahams
of Glasgow are absolutely swamped with body building work and
still short of a coachbuilder if you know of anyone in that trade
looking for work. Serviceshop are in exactly the same boat with
new Maintenance Contracts being signed up regularly and a shortage
of mechanics. Semi-skilled personnel would be worth talking to
as well.
We
can, however, as always, consider more work in all Departments,
so if the April showers are getting through your vehicle roofs
or curtains or you want some vehicles spring cleaned for the summer,
do let me know.
For
all those who are amused by our telephone answering message, you
will notice a change this month, but you’ll need to call
us to listen!
We
look forward to hearing from you.
